From there, it’s another 2 miles to the basin below Medicine Grizzly Peak, Razoredge Mountain, Mt. James, and your objective for day two, pyramidal Triple Divide Peak. Continue about a mile to gain the pass before the mile-long push up class 3 and 4 scree to the summit, where views of toothy peaks jutting up from lush valleys and bright-blue. The Triple Divide Trail is a pretty strenuous 12 miler, but a rewarding one. Especially in the high season, make sure to get to the trailhead (near Cut Bank Campground) early because there is very limited parking, and the spaces tend to fill up quickly.

On The River is a 3, mile, state education-linked, canoe adventure. From July to December the 4 person team traveled from Triple Divide Peak in Glacier National Park, MT to the Gulf of Mexico, via the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Yesterday I took advantage of the slight break in the heat wave and hiked from Mill Creek Summit to the Triple Divide (') near Pacifico Mountain. Triple Divide is a small bump/ridge junction which marks the division of three major drainage systems: Los Angeles, Santa Clara, and the Great Basin.

Divide peak was simple to get too, but it was a little tricky to find the correct route to kings crest. The best way is up the dry creek bed (which is marked by a cairn), the ridge to the right of it is just bushwhacking. A forest service crew was out bulldozing the road which made things interesting. They let me pass though so it wasn't issue.   This peak, with its’ special triple divide feature, had been calling me for years. So glad I did it, someday I hope to do it again with my kids. Also, the side hike to Medicine Grizzly Lake, is downright spiritual. I was compelled to hike all the way to the bottom of the waterfall and found a heart-shaped rock in the cascade for my daughter.
